Before you go

Conditions, access, and honest warnings.

  1. A short loop across the base of the cinder cone through the lava field it produced.
  2. Climbing the cone itself is prohibited. The loop is the closest legal approach.
  3. Cinder and lava are abrasive and sharp. Closed shoes only, and keep dogs off the rough sections.
