Before you go

Conditions, access, and honest warnings.

  1. Follows a spring-fed creek upstream through pine and maple to the spring source.
  2. Trailhead access has shifted to the Derrick Trailhead in recent seasons. Confirm the current parking area with the Payson Ranger District before driving out.
  3. Excellent fall color in October and reliably cool in summer thanks to the water and canopy.
