Before you go

Conditions, access, and honest warnings.

  1. One of the hardest popular day hikes in the state. The upper section is a hands-on scramble in a loose gully.
  2. Rescues happen here regularly, most often on the descent when legs are gone.
  3. Do not attempt it from May through September, and never in wet or icy conditions.
