Before you go

Fees, access, and what people get wrong here.

  1. A day-use fee applies at the developed recreation sites around the lake.
  2. Forest Road 300 is closed to vehicles by snow from roughly November into April. Confirm the gate is open first.
  3. Elevation here is near 7,500 feet. Afternoon monsoon storms arrive fast and lightning on the rim is a real hazard.
