Before you go
Fees, access, and what people get wrong here.
- The season is short, roughly mid-May to mid-October. Highway 67 closes with the first heavy snow.
- It is about a four-and-a-half hour drive from the South Rim despite being ten miles away across the canyon.
- At over 8,000 feet it is far cooler and greener than the South Rim, with spruce and aspen on the rim itself.
