Before you go

Fees, access, and what people get wrong here.

  1. The season is short, roughly mid-May to mid-October. Highway 67 closes with the first heavy snow.
  2. It is about a four-and-a-half hour drive from the South Rim despite being ten miles away across the canyon.
  3. At over 8,000 feet it is far cooler and greener than the South Rim, with spruce and aspen on the rim itself.
