Before you go

Fees, access, and what people get wrong here.

  1. A parking permit is required for every vehicle from April 1 through October 1, booked on Recreation.gov, and they sell out well in advance.
  2. The road in is rough unpaved switchbacks. High clearance is strongly recommended.
  3. There is no shade on the climb back out and the hike from the lot to the water is longer than it looks.
